Burdock Dandelion Root Bitters
People have long used bitters to aid in digestion. Drink 1 oz before or after a meal to help stimulate digestion or to calm stomach upset.
Materials
2 tbsp burdock root, cut and sifted
2 tbsp dandelion root, cut and sifted
1 tbsp orange peel, dried or fresh
10-15 cardamom pods, lightly crushed
3 cloves
6 black peppercorns
1 in ginger, lightly chopped
2-3 star anise
2 ½ c vodka or brands
Method
Combine herbs, spices and spirits in a 1 quart jar. Cover with lid and shake well. Put the jar in a cool, dark place to infuse for 4 to 6 weeks.
Strain out the herb material using a fine-mesh strainer. Rebottle and label.
